Movings On

I am very sorry I have not posted recently but I have had quite a few things going on recently, namely getting married, honeymoon, finances. To say the least, it's been crazy recently.

Finally, it's slowing a bit now and I have had a chance to make a decision. I've decided to move to deviantart... w4m1.deviantart.com I will post there from now on. I will, for the time being post copies over here.

On another note, writing the story has been eating up some of my drawing time ( I have over 75 pages written, the first three parts.) So, whenever I get a chance I am just practicing my skills. Namely anatomy, here a sample... AntiHero

A Possible Deviation

So, I have recently been debating whether to switch over to w4m1.DeviantArt.com. There are a whole host of reasons...

1. Networking: There are far more opportunities for marketing over there. Not to mention the fact that its targeted towards the right market.

2. It has several options blogger does not offer. Like gallery and favorites at the click of a button.

3. It has its own kind of built in "RSS" where people who like your stuff can create a "Deviant Watch". Where they get regular notifications when you post art OR journal entries.

Its really like blogger but for artists.

The only caveat is (as far as I know) that it does not provide a real "RSS" ( save the gallery ) or the ability to add other networking abilities i.e. WebRings and blog search engine submittals.

I'll mull over it for a while. If I decide to go I will definitely notify here.

Parsing the Midnight Oil

I finished the painting ( 2:30 am last night )... For the most part I like it, still it could have used a little better planning from the start ( i.e. colors/angle )...

There's a much bigger version at my DeviantArt site... http://w4m1.deviantart.com

Lastly, I am off to my honey moon! This means I will not have a real big post for the next two weeks. Although I will try to post some pictures from my honeymoon through my phone. Hopefully it will work...

A Normal Deviation

I didn't want to admit it as first but, I have to admit the deviantart.com website is pretty cool ( my site is at http://w4m1.deviantart.com ) . Its like myspace, but for artists. It allows networking with easy single clicks, marking of favorites, it has a lot of REALLY pretty pictures and it has a feature that allows you to monitor when your favourite artists post new work. The last one is the best part though, for me at least. It makes it a whole lot easier to work outside of the vacuum. Living here in the Insurance capital of the world may seem like it teems with artists but let me tell you something... Ya, not too much here. Anywho, the point I am trying to make is that DeviantArt.com lets me actually see what others are doing ( which is just some amazing stuff ). Seeing what is out there really pushes my boundaries. This in turn pushes me harder AND inspires to do better stuff... I am drawing the full size verion now... just wait until you see this next piece in full color ;)

WMD Update: Things are going really well... I pulled like 5 pages from the draft, and added 10-13. This may seem like a lot of cutting, which may seem to some hard to do, but to me its not. I am finding that this cutting and adding so liberally is making for a far better story AND its helping me develop the characters very deeply. This is getting so exciting!

Lastly and MOST importantly, I start a new chapter in my life this Saturday. I'm getting married to my fiancee Melinda tomorrow. At the beginning of the week it seemed so far away but today it hit me. The office surprised me with a surprise party and I got a little emotional ( no not crying ). It should be a great weekend with family, friends and my wonderful wife-to-be Melinda ;)

Magnitude of Attitude...

Well! As promised, here is the pin-up for the MAGNITUDE comic. I like how it came out colored. Please do take the time to check it out, it looks pretty good!!

Also, on the webcomic front... My editors ( family ) have reviewed the comic. So far the response has been "great". What I mean by that is, they like where it is going, but it needs a ton of fine tuning ( I kinda knew that before I gave it to them ). I started to fine tune before I even got the marked up copies back from them. I removed a 7-10 pages and added/will add close to 25 pages. Its ironic, I am finding that my writing style really needs more scenes rather than less. Which as I have heard the case is most often the opposite. Though.. it does make sense, I tend to write rather minimalist. I also have a firm believer in the 'showing not telling' kind of writing.

Lastly, I created a deviantart.com spot. For the immediate future this will be the spot for my gallery ( until I finish building my official website spot ). You can find it at w4m1.deviantart.com

Quickee on the Table(t)

I was in the mood to draw something with the wacom tablet...

PS: I will be posting the Magnitude drawing shortly...
